What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is an approach to health that utilizes the body’s natural recuperative powers. It is the science of locating and correcting, through chiropractic adjustments, nerve interference, which can cause dysfunction within the body. Chiropractic is a method of health care that does not utilize drugs or surgery. It also considers all aspects of the patient’s life: family history, work, lifestyle, diet and exercise, and the patient’s physical and emotional stress factors.

What conditions does chiropractic treat?
Common conditions addressed by chiropractic include: back/hip/leg pain or numbness, neck/shoulder/arm pain or numbness, chronic headaches, knee/ankle pain or injury, carpal tunnel syndrome, and difficulty with sitting/bending/lifting. How does it work?
Chiropractic works by locating and correcting, through adjustments, nerve interference, which can cause dysfunction within the body. Once the interferences are removed, the nervous system function improves, resulting in positive health benefits.

What is an adjustment?
The goal of a chiropractic adjustment is to restore proper motion to the spine, thus removing irritation to the associated nerves and restoring nervous system health. This is usually done through a gentle, precise thrust that effectively places the vertebra into its correct position. It is a technique that requires extensive training and practice.

Does an adjustment hurt?
Although each patient reacts differently, the procedure is rarely painful. Reactions range from temporary soreness to a sense of relief and well-being.

Is it safe?
Chiropractic is one of the safest healing methodologies, and has an excellent safety record. It is the result of a conservative approach to health that avoids invasive procedures or addictive drugs.

Are all patients adjusted the same way?
No. Each patient’s treatment course is determined by his/her unique spinal problem. For example, some patients who complain of headaches may actually have a lower back problem that is causing a compensation reaction at the base of the skull. Other patients who experience numbness in their fingers may actually have a problem in the neck. Each patient is different, and will require a unique treatment plan.

Can chiropractic be used with children or senior citizens?
Yes. Many childhood health complaints that are brushed off as “growing pains” can often be traced to the spine. Regular chiropractic checkups can identify these problems and help avoid many of the health complaints seen later in adults.

Older patients through chiropractic care have reported improvement with arthritic symptoms and other chronic ailments often associated with the aging process. In addition, growing concern about over-medication and side effects of prescription drugs has prompted more and more people to look into chiropractic care as a possible alternative.
